Leader's CineZone wins broadcast industry award at IBC 2008
Leader Electronics' new CineZone luminance-monitoring system has received 'Best of IBC 2008' recognition from the editorial staff of 'TVB Europe' and their colleagues on 'The IBC Daily' newspaper. CineZone was selected for the award during the International Broadcasting Convention held in September at the RAI Centre, Amsterdam.
"This is a tribute to Leader's design team," comments elQuip BV Managing Director Paul Vos. "Coming on top of a similar award at IBC2007 for CineLite, it demonstrates the company's ability to live up to its name with a proven and sustained ability to innovate. CineZone allows quick and easy confirmation of luminance levels without needing the engineering experience necessary to interpret traditional video waveform representations. This makes the training of production staff much easier and delivers significant time-saving to makers of documentaries and movies."
Leader's CineZone uses the colour spectrum to represent luminance values on an otherwise normal and recognisable picture. Levels over the user-adjustable maximum are displayed in white, highlights in red, mid-greys in green, shadows in blue and levels under the adjustable minimum in black. This helps to confirm what the camera is actually delivering and allows potential overmodulation or undermodulation areas to be identified much more precisely than is possible when viewing a normal colour viewfinder. Video waveform measurement is normally restricted to one full horizontal scan line. CineZone delivers real-time pixel accuracy across the entire image for the entire duration of the scene.
CineZone can be viewed as one of four simultaneous test images on Leader's LV5800 studio monitor. It is also available along with CineLite as a standard feature of the LV5330 ultra-portable instrument and as an option for the portable LV5380. Both instruments were introduced at IBC 2008.
